Travel Retail launch in Frankfurt:

National Geographic Apparel now exclusively available at Frankfurt Airport Retail

Frankfurt, 7 October 2021. Gebr. Heinemann and Frankfurt Airport Retail (FAR), a joint venture between Gebr. Heinemann and the airport operating company Fraport, are bringing the National Geographic Apparel collection to an airport for the first time. The sustainable clothing line from the US science magazine and TV station National Geographic is now available in the Main Walk-through Shop in Terminal 1 at Frankfurt Airport.

Sustainability and functionality go hand in hand

The assortment of the pop-up store, which measures around 35 square meters, consists of sportswear and outerwear for women and men, including t-shirts, hoodies, expedition jackets, hats and scarves. National Geographic's collection emphasizes the duty to use resources responsibly. High-tech fabrics such as recycled nylon and polyester meet eco-certified cotton and biodegradable fibres that are processed in a water- and energy-saving way.

The collection reflects the values that National Geographic has embodied for some 130 years: a belief in research, science and education, respectful treatment of people, animals and nature, and a curiosity for the new and unknown. Shoppers of the collection support this cause, as every purchase made supports the National Geographic Society –a non-profit organization with global reach that harnesses the power of science, exploration, education and storytelling to illuminate the miracles of the world and protect the planet.

Eye-catching pop-up space in the spirit of National Geographic

With natural materials, light installations and nature films and images, Frankfurt Airport Retail's pop-up space is also inspired by the science magazine famous for outstanding nature photography. The striking yellow design is visible from afar and is a traffic stopper in the walk-through shop.

Following the launch of National Geographic in Frankfurt, the brand is now to be rolled out in further locations. The initial focus is on Berlin, Oslo, Copenhagen and Istanbul.
