Hamburg, September 13 2018. Hamburg – a harbour with international container ships and screeching seagulls, a maritime atmosphere at the fish market, a party in the entertainment district around Reeperbahn and the silhouette of the giant harbour cranes on the horizon. And of course, Hamburg is also a city of music and musicals. Heinemann is bringing this special feeling to Hamburg Airport throughout September and October with the "Welcome to Hamburg" promotion. To kick things off, a musical flash mob provided travellers with an attention-grabbing surprise.
Flashdance flash mob
On the occasion of the musical’s German tour, which brings the cult 1980s film to the stage, Heinemann surprised travellers with a Flashdance flash mob on three days. Twenty musical performers danced across the Airport Plaza to the Duty Free Mainshop. Besides dancing they also had another mission: they distributed flyers with information on the customer bonus programme Heinemann & Me, the members of which can take part in a competition to win exclusive ticket packages for Flashdance in the MEHR! Theatre at Hamburg – including a champagne reception and a "meet and greet" with the cast. A special landing page for the competition has also been created in the web shop at heinemann-shop.com.
"Welcome to Hamburg" – a declaration of love with a local sense
Through "Welcome to Hamburg", Heinemann is bringing to the airport all of the things that locals and visitors love about the harbour city. In the Mainshop, this "local sense" is evident throughout, via a modern, maritime mood with thick ships’ ropes, red-and-white life buoys, as well as a wood and bricks look. For the main stage, the atmosphere of cool beach clubs by the Elbe river was captured: on a bar made from cream-coloured wooden pallets with water-blue details, Heinemann Duty Free presents a Gin Sul promotion. The handcrafted gin with Portuguese roots is manufactured in a small Hamburg distillery. Travellers can try it during tasting sessions and buy a limited edition.
Other regional products like “Kemm’ sche Kuchen” (a traditional hanseatic cookie) or “Helbing Kümmel” (a hanseatic "kümmel liqueur" with a unique recipe and made in Hanseatic tradition of distilling for almost 180 years) can be found on promotional displays designed as shipping containers, above which seagulls "circle". The wine area echoes the architecture of the historic Speicherstadt warehouse district, with presentation displays in a brickwork look. In the Kids Area there are cheerful and colourful nods to the big "Dom" fair held in Hamburg each year while the Gifting Area pays homage to the St. Pauli and Reeperbahn entertainment district.
Competitions, mailshots and promotions for Heinemann & Me members
Alongside the tickets for Flashdance in Hamburg's MEHR! Theatre, Heinemann Duty Free has yet another musical highlight ready for travellers: they can win tickets for a concert by Hamburg rock legend Udo Lindenberg, including accommodation for one night in the Hotel Westin Grand at the Elbphilharmonie. Heinemann is also accompanying the "Welcome to Hamburg" promotion with printed mailshots to Heinemann & Me members, who can benefit from discounts on the entire range, as well as extra loyalty points and many more bonuses during the campaign period.
