Your vocational training programme
Over three years you will be trained as a Wholesale and Foreign Trade professional. You will support a number of different departments and will become familiar with the complex interconnections within our company. The goal is to quickly prepare you for joining in with day-to-day work through ‘learning by doing’. In numerous internal training courses you will gain specialist product knowledge and expertise; in addition, we will also actively support you in your personal development. The training is rounded off with regular trainee get-togethers as well as by working on and presenting projects. Support in preparing you fully for the final examination is standard at Gebr. Heinemann.
First year of training: You will gain an initial insight into the large logistics and warehouse area, into a number of Buying and Sales and Distribution departments, into the Accounts department as well as into the running of a shop at Hamburg airport. Many opportunities will arise out of dynamic business developments, e.g. working with clients at short notice, or working at one of our diverse business locations. In numerous company-internal training courses you will gain specialist product knowledge and expertise.
Second and third years of training: You will deepen your knowledge of the various business segments, for example by doing work experience at our subsidiary Tabakwaren- und Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH and Parfum Distribution Hamburg GmbH. You will take on marketing tasks, gain insights into Financial Controlling and carry out your first buying and sales talks. At the end of your training period you will have passed through more than 20 offices and will be in a position to carry out smaller projects.

After successfully completing your training to become a Wholesale and Foreign Trade professional you will begin work as a Team Assistant. As a growing and dynamic company, Gebr. Heinemann offers diverse development opportunities and perspectives.
