March 24, 2009 - Riviera Duty Free signs Heinemann supply agreement

The operator will run the duty-free store at Sochi International airport’s new
terminal, due to open in the summer
Riviera Duty Free has signed an exclusive supply
contract with Gebr Heinemann earlier in March in
preparation for the opening of its first duty-free outlet
at Sochi International airport’s new terminal, due to
open in the summer. The 205sq m (2,206sq ft) store
will be in the international departures area.
Riviera Duty Free is owned by Latvian company
Vingo, which is involved in the logistics of supplying
duty-free merchandise to several Russian retailers. The retail arm of the firm was
formed last December after Vingo’s victory in the tender to run the new store at Sochi
airport in October 2008, beating competition from Russian and international duty-free
operators.
Vingo owner Victor Goshev told DFNIonline: “The shop will offer the complete dutyfree
product assortment, including liquor, fragrances, cosmetics, tobacco,
confectionery, accessories and toys. The store was designed by Finnish company
JRA Finland and the shop fitting will be completed by Austrian company Umdasch.”
Goshev added that Sochi is a sub-tropical resort for wealthy Russians near the alpine
skiing resort of Krasnaya Polyana. Sochi will also host the 2014 Winter Olympic
Games.
